Obituary

William Albert McDowell was accompanied by his two sons when he went peacefully to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 21st, 2019 at the age of 79. Albert, as he was known by family and friends, was the first born of 5 children raised in the ways of the Lord by John Scott McDowell and his wife, Edna Mae. Albert graduated from Cumberland High School and promptly joined the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1961. After service to the nation, Albert relocated to Memphis where he worked as an apprentice electrician and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He graduated from the University of Memphis in 1972 and embarked on a 35-year career in college textbook sales. Upon retirement, Albert returned to the heavenly confines of the Clarkson Community where he enjoyed life and gave back as only he could. Albert was a life-long member of the Clarkson Baptist Church and a 50+-year Mason in the State of Tennessee.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Carol, and is survived by his sons, William and Scott, and granddaughters, Carol and Samantha. He is also survived his dear friend, Hazel Avent, and his siblings, Sarah, Charlie, Joe and Jane, along with multiple nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Albert's life at a memorial service at the Clarkson Baptist Church on June 29th, 2019 at 2pm, where his remains will be laid to rest with his parents; paternal grandparents, Albert Colfax and Sarah Alice; maternal grandparents, William and Jessie Palmer; and step-grandmother, Ola Palmer.
