Obituary

William Eckford Blasingame, 82, passed away on February 3, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 15, 1936 to Claude and Flay Addie Sanders Blasingame.

Mr. Blasingame was retired from B & W of West Point, Mississippi. Formerly of Starkville, Mississippi, he and his wife moved to Clarkson over fifty years ago where he served as a deacon and choir member at Clarkson Baptist Church. He was also the oldest member of his church. Many will remember Mr. Blasingame was the Wal Mart Greeter for thirteen years. Of his many joys in life, his greatest joys were his garden, fishing, and love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also an avid Mississippi State University supporter. His family has fond memories of singing and enjoying music together.

Mr. Blasingame is survived by five daughters, Ronda Gale Blasingame of Mathiston, Sarah (Kenneth) Arnold of West Point, Edna Blasingame of Ackerman, Michelle Blasingame of Mathiston, and Melissa Blasingame of Maben; five granddaughters, Amanda Lee Hazzard, Jamie Freeman, Elizabeth (Richard) Gilbert, Courtney Harrison, and Avery Grace Brown; two grandsons, Daniel (Ashley) Arnold and Landan Kent; five great grandchildren, Chanc Mathis, Jayleigh Freeman, Joequan Freeman, Avery Elizabeth Gray, and Easton Daniel Arnold; a brother, Ed (Linda) Blasingame of Starkville; and a sister, Edna Alice Blasingame Dean of McClenny, Florida.

Mr. Blasingame is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Flay Addie Sanders Blasingame; his wife, Minnie Lee Blasingame; a son, William Claude "Bill" Blasingame; a daughter, Wonda Dale Blasingame Oswalt; granddaughter, Sharon Denise Oswalt; a grandson, James Larkin Oswalt, Jr; and two great grandchildren, Joemarion and Joedarion Freeman.
