Mathiston, Mississippi
Virginia Ezell, aged 81, passed away on May 27, 2019. She was born to John and Nobie Jean Pippin Prather on January 27, 1938.
Ms. Virginia graduated from high school and completed some post graduate work; but began her most important career, being a homemaker and mother of five. She and her husband traveled with the United State Air Force throughout the United States and overseas service in Portugal where one of their daughters was born. After her husband retired at the age of 40, they moved to Mississippi where he worked in the oil field. Ms. Virginia enjoyed being home with her chickens, cows, and feeding humming birds. With her limited mobility in the past few years she loved watching her humming birds, using social media, and playing games on the internet.
Ms. Ezell is survived by her stepfather, Harold Judson Schmitz of Mathiston, Mississippi; two sons, John David Ezell of Mathiston and William Bruce Ezell (Nanette) of Mobile, Alabama; three daughters, Carolyn Denise Henley of Mathiston, Beverly Ezell Lott of Mathiston, and Stephanie Lynn Ezell of Robertsdale, Alabama; one brother, John Robert Prather (Peggy) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one sister, Rebecca Ann Stewart (Donald) of Mathiston; seven grandchildren, Michael David Ezell, William Ray Ezell, Shawna Reed Williams, Austin Blake Reed, Lexie Clair Hunt, Dylan Ray Henley, and Maggie Ray Ezell; and nine great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Prather, and Jean Pippin Prather Schmitz, and one sister, Bedelia Ann Prather.
A funeral service will be at Wise Reed Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019 with Brother Buddy Pepper officiating. Pallbearers are Blake Reed, Brad Williams, Billy Ezell, Dylan Henley, Lane Hunt, and Perry Smith. A visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Clarkson Cemetery in Webster County, Mississippi. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
