Virginia Ruth Cash, age 89, passed away at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, Mississippi on December 24, 2020. She was born on June 6, 1931 to Gus and Annie Taylor Phillips.

Ms. Ruth was a lifetime resident of Mathiston, Mississippi. She loved to sew and cook. Her family says that she would never let you leave without eating. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and even great-great grandmother. She loved all her babies and never let any of them leave her home empty handed. She always had a smile on her face every time you saw her. She was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church in Mathiston, Mississippi.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Cash of Mathiston, Mississippi and Wayne (Elaine) Cash of Denham Springs, Louisiana; three daughters, Vicki Vaughn of Mathiston, Mississippi, Fairy (Larry) Love of Mathiston, Mississippi, and Sheryl Dunaway of Denham Springs, Louisiana; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Annie Taylor Phillips; one son, Billy Cash, one daughter, Anita Cash Moore; four brothers; and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston, Mississippi. Officiating the service will be Brother Charles White and Brother Josh Buford. Pallbearers are Blake Love, Mitchell Vaughn, Brad Vaughn, Brody White, Taylor Norwood, Logan White, Tanner Hardy, and Chris Langford. The family ask that all attending do wear a mask and practice social distancing. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
