Shirley Gibson Gary, 80, of Eupora, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Eupora, MS on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Shirley was born on December 29, 1944 to the late B.F. and Sammie Gibson of Bellefontaine, MS. She attended Eupora High School and Mississippi University for Women.
Shirley married the love of her life, Jackie Gary, on August 18, 1963. They lived in various places while she supported her husband while he obtained his degrees and began his career. They then settled in Webster County. She was a homemaker and a loving mother to her three children. She was a talented and passionate host and cook. She enjoyed hosting events and meals with extended family and friends especially with her grandchildren. Her beautiful home reflected her love for needlework and decorating. She always enjoyed hosting meals and parties for her loved ones and friends. She also enjoyed travelling with her family and making memories. She supported her husband in his career but later went to work for Yates Home Center and Dewberry Insurance until she retired. She was a beautiful lady and always had a sweet smile on her face.
She was known by her treasured grandchildren as "Shirl the Pearl". Shirley was always dressed with her hair done and her makeup on. Her taste was impeccable, and she always displayed her beauty both inside and out. The example she set for her family is in full display in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their successes are exemplary of the character, morals, integrity, and love that they have all demonstrated in their own lives. Shirley lived for her family and friends and her love for them will last throughout their lives. Her influence will live on through them.
During her retirement Shirley loved her road trips with her dear sisters, Gail Reed and Gwen Rico. They enjoyed eating out, shopping, and sight-seeing.
She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Gary Meek (Buchanan), Monica Gary Cummings (Pat), and Gibb Gary (Tracy); eleven grandchildren, Sealy Smith Glasner (Jeremy), Beau Smith (Aubry), Patrick Scott Cummings, Wesleigh Cummings Godfrey (Will), Jack Smith, Tatianna Gary, Ben Gary, Joshua Gary, William Gary, Nathan Gary, and Samuel Kartuzinski, and two great-grandchildren, Landry Cummings and Riley James Godfrey.
