Robert C. "Butch" Jennings, 71 passed away on October 3, 2019 at his home in Eupora, Mississippi. He was born on October 25, 1947 to Robert Eugene Jennings and Mavis Stokes Jennings Odom. He was married to Carolyn Ann Jennings.
Mr. Jennings career was in various areas of law enforcement. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1966. He was married to Carolyn Ann for over fifty-one years. After serving in the Army he began a lifelong career in law enforcement. He attended Delta State University and furthered his education through other course work with the University of Virginia, Quantico, Virginia. For twenty-one years he served the city of Greenville, Mississippi as an investigator and deputy chief of police. He worked for the Narcotics Task Force for Bolivar, Washington, and Sunflower Counties then transferred to Oktibbeha, Clay, and Winston counties. Mr. Jennings finally retired from a distinguished career in law enforcement after serving as investigator and polygraph examiner for the Fifth Judicial District with Doug Evans.
After moving to Webster County in 1991 he became an active member of Sapa Baptist Church.
Mr. Jennings is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann Jennings; two sons, Charles Bradford Jennings and Jason Bryan Jennings (Amanda) both of Eupora, Mississippi; one brother, Glen Jennings (Kathy) of Abilene, Texas; three sisters, Jane Jennings of Belzona, Mississippi, Phyllis Jennings Lee (Bob) of Rolling Fork, Mississippi, and Billye Jennings Jones (Danny) of Bentonia, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Haley Marie Jennings of Starkville, Mississippi, Caithlyn Elizabeth Jennings of East Mississippi College, and James Cutter Jennings of Eupora, Mississippi.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Jennings; adopted at the age of five ears by his dad, Charles Henry Odom, Sr.; mother, Mavis Stokes Jennings Odom; and brother, Chuck Odom.
Funeral services for Mr. Robert "Butch" Jennings will be Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Visitation will be Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Officiating for the service is Brother Adam Berry. Burial will follow at Sapa Cemetery in Webster County, Eupora, Mississippi.
