Polly Bird Peeples, 84, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. She was born in Eupora, Mississippi on May 24, 1934 to the late Paul and Gertrude Knight Byrd.

Ms. Peeples was a sales clerk with May Department Stores for many years. Mrs. Peeples moved here from Fayetteville, North Carolina in July of 2013. She was of the protestant faith.

Having great pride in her family, she always tried to keep track of each of them making sure that they all remained very close. One family member remembers her Polly calling during half time of Mississippi State University games, her way of keeping contact with family.

Surviving are her sons, Jim Peeples (Laura) of Demorest, Georgia and John Peeples of Mooresville, North Carolina; a sister, Mary Giles of Winterhaven, Florida; two grandchildren, Taylor Peeples MacMillian (Nick) of Fort Mitchell, Alabama and Ashley Peeples of Demorest, Georgia; and two great grandchildren, Nolan Peeples and Eleanor MacMillian.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Peeples.

Funeral services are Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Wise Reed Chapel. Visitation will be from 12 – 1 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greensboro Cemetery.
