Otis Clyde
Mccain
August 1, 1943 – January 7, 2020
Clyde McCain, 76, passed away on January 7, 2020 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born on August 1, 1943 to the late Odie McCain and Maggie Irene McCain. He was married to Mertie Boatman McCain.
Mr. McCain graduated from Eupora High School. He was married to Mertie Boatman McCain for over fifty years. Mr. McCain was a self-made mechanical entrepreneur. His career encompassed numerous factories and businesses where he was the mechanic. Some of these businesses included Mersman, Wonder Bread, Ford Motor Company in both Eupora and Greenwood, Collier Battery, and Lowell Gibson. Clyde did not limit his mechanical genius to work though. He rebuilt motors for boats, trucks, and race cars. Not only did he drive his own race car; he was the mechanic for other race car drivers. Included in his skill set was displaying his trucks, cars, and race cars in car shows and at the Leigh Mall in Columbus. Clyde was known by everyone for having a wonderful sense of humor. He could turn any situation into a humorous experience. Whenever you saw Clyde riding in his red truck, you would see him with his beloved dog, J. J. He was a member of the Mt. Union Baptist Church in Stewart, Mississippi.
Mr. McCain is survived by his wife, Mertie Boatman McCain; many nieces and nephews; and an enormous number of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Maggie Irene McCain; two brothers, Robert "Mo" McCain and Charles Vernon McCain; and two sisters, Patty Williamson and Linda Holmes.
