Nellie Frances "Butch" McBride

July 15, 1943 – April 21, 2023

Nellie "Butch" McBride ,79, passed away at her residence in Mathiston, MS, on April 21, 2023. She was born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi on July 15, 1943, to William G. and Nellie Lewis Henley.

Butch, as she was known, was a retired hairdresser who, aside from her work, loved crafting, sewing, and painting. She admired the artist Bob Ross so much she enrolled in an art class to learn the art of painting "happy little trees". Butch was an animal lover as having many cats and dogs, but she was adopted by her min pin, Jumper who showed up one day and would never leave. Butch's heart belonged most assuredly, though, to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. McBride was a faithful member of the Clarkson Baptist Church where she has attended since she was 18 years old. Her years of service to the church has been one of teaching senior adults. She has stated from the beginning and through the years of teaching those older than her, that she had learned so much more of the Bible and developing a life with Christ from the senior adults than she could ever teach them.

Nellie Frances "Butch" McBride is survived by her husband, Thomas H. McBride of Mathiston, MS; two daughters, Melissa McCain of Mathiston, MS and Leslie Vaughan (Daniel) of Eupora, MS; four grandchildren, Bailey Dozier (Lee), Casey Embry (Jesse), Matt Fulgham (Brittany), Abby Vaughan; nine great grandchildren, L.J. and Cooper Dozier, Madisyn, River, Mina, Mazelee, and Ella Fulgham, Jax and Beau Embry.

Mrs. McBride is preceded in death by her parents, William G., and Nellie Inez Henley, a sister, Patty Lewis, and a daughter, Carol Springer.

A graveside service was held at 12:00 PM at Clarkson Baptist Cemetery on April 21, 2023. Brother David Keen officiated.
