Melissa A. Hulsey Faulkner

Melissa A. Hulsey Faulkner, age 42, passed away on June 14, 2023, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, Mississippi surrounded by her family. She was born on July 25, 1980, to James Wendell Hulsey Jr. and Patricia Ann Holland Holt.

Melissa lived most of her life in Tupelo, Mississippi until she moved back to Webster County to be closer to her family. She was very loving to all who met her. She especially loved her children and was a caretaker for her sister, Dana, until her sister became a caretaker to her. Her brother, James, remembers Melissa as being tough. His most fond memory of them together is wrestling on the trampoline as kids. Friends of Melissa say she loved to sing, and you never saw her without a smile on her face. God's House of Hope in Kilmichael, Mississippi impacted her life, so much so that she was almost two months clean before God called her home. She was a faithful member of West Eupora Church of God and loved her church family very much.

She is survived by her mother, Pat Holt of Eupora, Mississippi; her husband, Chris Faulkner of Tupelo, Mississippi; one son, Isaac (Jessica) Hulsey of Tupelo, Mississippi; two daughters, Jaycee Hickman of Eupora, Mississippi and Makala Faulkner of Tupelo, Mississippi; one brother, James Hulsey of Eupora, Mississippi; one sister, Dana Hulsey of Mathiston, Mississippi; paternal grandfather, Roy Holland; one aunt, Shelby (William) Beam; three uncles, Richard (Carol) Holland, Terry (Regina) Holland, and Gerry Holland; and one granddaughter on the way. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive her.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Wendell Hulsey, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Peggy Joyce Holland; and paternal grandparents, Marie Hulsey and James Wendell, Sr.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. A visitation will be held prior to the service at Wise Reed Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. There will be no graveside following the services. The family asks that any donations made to go towards the funeral be given to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to West Eupora Church of God (1716 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Eupora, MS 39744). There will be no Go Fund Me accounts set up by friends or family. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
