Mary Frances Spikes, age 92, passed away on February 8, 2023, at DeSoto Healthcare Center in Southaven, Mississippi. She was born on December 30, 1930, to Oscar Newton and Sarah Frances Scarborough Reedy.

Mary Frances spent the last four years in Southaven, Mississippi at the Desoto Healthcare Center. In those four years, she has made many friends and spent lots of time rolling her wheelchair down the hallway singing gospel songs. She never missed a Bible study; they even wanted her to teach because she knew the Bible better than the teacher did. Her favorite thing was playing "bingo for dollars" at the home to buy things at the bingo store.

She is survived by one son, Richard Lamar Spikes (Marilyn) of Olive Branch, Mississippi.

She is preceded in death her husband, Richard Calvin Spikes; her parents, Oscar Newton and Sarah Frances Scarborough Reedy; 4 brothers; and one sister, Montez Hardy.

A graveside service will be held at North Union Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Mississippi on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 1 p.m. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 12:30 until 1 p.m. Burial will follow at North Union Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Mississippi. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
