Mary Lou Dixon, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2020. She was born on November 5, 1931 to Oliver Lagrone and Grace Salley Pullen.
Mary Lou was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was a lifetime resident of the Cadaretta Community in Webster County. While she never learned to drive or had a driver's license, she spent many years caring for those she loved. In her later years, she enjoyed her afternoon nap, watching Wheel of Fortune on television, and eating cherry tomatoes. Among her favorite things in life were caring for her family and crocheting. She was a member of Bradford Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Oliver (Dana) Dixon of Cadaretta, Mississippi; one daughter, Mary J. Bland of Baldwyn, Mississippi; one daughter-in-law, Judy Berryhill Dixon-Fowler; one brother, Daniel Thomas (Cindy) Pullen of Tillatoba, Mississippi; one sister, Sally Belle Porter of Eupora, Mississippi; nine grandchildren, Kim (Shane) Kelley of Eupora, Mississippi, Scott (Jessie) Dixon of Eupora, Mississippi, Melissa (Dewayne) Hale of Baldwyn, Mississippi, Brent (Mindy) Dixon of Cadaretta, Mississippi, Ronni M. (Timothy) Wray of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Matthew T. Bland of Baldwyn, Mississippi, Stashia (Shayne) Anderson of Eupora, Mississippi, Christina (Andrew) Rushing of Eupora, Mississippi, and Myles R. Bland of Baldwyn, Mississippi; sixteen great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild, and one great-granddaughter on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Lagrone and Grace Salley Pullen; her husband, Warner Allen Dixon; one son, Richard Allen Dixon; one son-in-law, Ronald T. "Ronnie" Bland; three brothers, John Lagrone Pullen, William Earl Pullen, and Roy Oliver Pullen; and one sister, Sue Hellen Thomas.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Bradford Chapel Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Bradford Chapel Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Brother Jon Haimes. Pallbearers are Brent Dixon, Scott Dixon, Shayne Anderson, Andrew Rushing, Timothy Wray and Alex Ellis. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
