Marvin Gerald Butler, age 67, passed away on December 2, 2020 at his home in Maben, Mississippi. He was born on October 6, 1953 to Marvin B. and Yolanda Butler.
He was married to Martha Jo Butler.
Mr. Butler was born in California but moved to Mississippi with his family in 1971. He worked with SLY Industries before retirement. He was an active minister of the Jehovah's Witness faith. He did much volunteer work within his church including volunteering with disaster relief and COVID relief. He enjoyed crafting with metal and wood and teaching the Bible to others. His daughters remember him giving them this last minute advise, "Straighten up and fly right." His philosophy in life was "I could be better but it would cost more. It is what it is."
He is survived by his parents, Marvin B. and Yolanda Gross Butler; his wife, Martha Jo Butler; three daughters, Betsy Butler of Birmingham, Alabama, Melinda Butler of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Melanie Butler of Maben, Mississippi; two sisters Linda Butler of Mantee, Mississippi and Nina Kaktins of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one sister, Vicky Waters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
