Obituary

Margie Venita Sanders

April 7, 1937 ~ July 21, 2026

Weir, Mississippi

Margie Venita Sanders passed away on July 21, 2026, peacefully among her family members, at Choctaw Nursing and Rehab Center in Ackerman, Mississippi.

Venita was born April 7, 1937, to Clarence Ezra Vice and Velma Lee Wilson Vice.

Coming from Attala County, Ms. Sanders had made Weir her home since 1976. However, she remained a member of the Salem Baptist Church in Attala until her death. She retired from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks where she had worked for 16 years.

Venita loved her family and they spoke joyfully of her recalling how she loved music, but especially line dancing and was so accomplished performing that she taught it. She also was a big sports fan who followed whatever sport her grandchildren played. If she couldn’t make it to a game, she would watch it on television. Her children also will attest that aside from being a good cook, and driving a tractor, she could fix anything. If something broke, she took it on to fix it.

Margie Venita Sanders is survived by two sons James William Perry and Homer Lamar Sanders (Lisa); two daughters Janice Lavone Landry (Arthur Paul) and Neomia Delynn Gant (Jerry); nine grandchildren Laila Henson, Chris Perry, Kelly Clark, Shelby Davis, BJ Rodrigue, Kim Hatcher, Scott Sanders, Slade Sanders, Carlton Sanders and Schyler Smith; 27 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence Ezra Vice, and Velma Lee Wilson Vice; her husband HomerCarlton Sanders Jr; one son Bobby Dewayne Perry; one brother Bruce Vice; one grandchild Glen Perry and one great grandchild Autumn Burris

A visitation to Ms. Sanders will be on July 24, 2026, at Wise Reed Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A service will be held at 11:00 am on July 24, 2026, in the Wise Reed Chapel.
