Juanita Vaughan LeBouef
March 5, 1920 – October 3, 2020
Eupora, Mississippi
Juanita Vaughan LeBouef, age 100, passed away on October 3, 2020 at her home in Eupora, Mississippi surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 5, 1920 to the late Lester and Alma Martin Vaughan.
After graduation from Reform High School in Reform, Mississippi. Juanita attended Drones Business College in Jackson, Mississippi. She worked in various jobs rearing her two sons and three daughters but moved from Louisiana to Mississippi in 1981 to care for her elderly mother. For several years she worked as the cook for Buttons and Bows in Eupora, Mississippi. She lived across from the Drive-In Theater and would set up movie night for her granddaughters, Leslie and Paige, with lawn chairs, complete with popcorn and cokes as they watched "silent" movies. She was an avid Mississippi State University fan and would always cook a delicious meal at Thanksgiving since Jane and Tommy worked the Egg Bowl. They laughingly said that if State won, they came home to a nice warm meal; however, if State lost, she would make you heat up your own meal. When she could no longer see the television to watch the games or hear the radio, Paige would come to stay with her on game day and be her "Jack Cristil," giving the play by plays. As Ms. Juanita's health deteriorated, Jane retired from Mississippi State University to care for her. She enjoyed embroidery and quilting for her family members, and she enjoyed hearing about her great-grandsons, Grant and John Thomas', successes on the tennis court, always asking them, "Did ya win?" She always said she wished she had her sight so she could watch them play. Ms. Juanita created so many lasting impression and memories for Tommy and his family. She was a faithful member of the Eupora Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son Tommy (Jane) Ballard of Eupora, Mississippi; two daughters, Patricia Ballard Carr of Ackerman, Mississippi and Linda Ballard (Eldon) Crochet of Bourg, Louisiana; one daughter-in-law, Donna Dockery Ballard; 19 grandchildren including four local grandchildren: Leslie Ballard Frank, Paige Ballard Waggoner, James Chadwick Ballard, and Devon Cheaton; and thirty great-grandchildren including four local great-grandchildren: William Grant Frank, John Thomas Frank, Olivia Jane Frank, Jozie Claire Ballard, and Hadleigh Mills.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Alma Martin Vaughan; one son, Charles Lester Ballard; one daughter Carolyn Ballard Crochet; two brothers, James Eric "Pete" Vaughan and Lester Arnell "Bud" Vaughan; and one sister, Ora Lee Ferguson.
A graveside service will be held at Sapa Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday October 4, 2020. Wise Reed Funeral Home assisted with all arrangements.
