Jonathon Shane Box

March 15, 1978~ August 1, 2026

Jonathan “Shane” Box, age 48, passed away on August 1, 2026. He was born on March 15, 1978, to Paulette (Whitt) Box and Larry Box.

In Shane’s early years he worked at the Webster County 911 Dispatch center, later attending the Police Academy and the Fire Academy and became a Police officer in Webster Co. MS. He also joined as a Volunteer Firefighter at Mathiston and Tomnolen later becoming a Fire Chief of Tomnolen Fire Department. When he moved to IL he worked as the Animal Warden for Ogle Co. IL. Prior to that he worked at the Greater Rockford Auto Auction as well as joining Oregon IL. Fire Department as a Volunteer Firefighter. Shane took great pride in being a first responder and enjoyed helping others.

Shane loved listening to and singing along to older classic country music and old time hymns, he especially loved quartet groups. His favorite shows were Blue Bloods and The Heat of the Night. His favorite place to go on vacation was the Smoky Mountains. His aunt Marylee ( Aunt Moo-Moo) was his person.

When Shane married Pamela on March 30, 2024; He planned a romantic honeymoon in the Smokies. Shane was not only sweet on Pamela he also loved many other sweets such as peppermints, bubble gum, donuts, lemon drops & anything else made with lemons, his momma’s banana pudding and chocolate pie.

Shane was a true friend to every dog he had in his life, his last one he called “Ada Girl”; he never went anywhere without her.

Shane collected neck ties and he believed you were not dressed properly for church if you did not have one on. Shane attended Calvary Baptist Church in Eupora and was baptized there when he decided to follow Jesus, he always called Calvary his home church. Shane transferred his membership to The Oregon Church of God in Oregon IL.

Shane will be laid to rest with those that have Preceded him; his Mother and Father Paulette and Larry Box; his Paternal Grandparents Lester (Effie) Box  and Beatrice Box; his Maternal Grandparents Paul and Rudell Whitt; Uncle Jim M. Whitt and his best friends Keith Crenshaw, Lacy Dean, Tommy Weeks and Jimmy McLemore.

Shane is survived by his wife Pamela of Illinois; step daughter Morgan Jennings, three aunts, June Johnson (Gayden) of Caledonia MS.; Marylee Johnson (Phillip) of Eupora MS Connie Eddington Kilgore, TX. two uncles Charles (Debra) Box of Ackerman MS. and Roger (Bonnie) Box of Como MS.; three cousins, Matt Johnson and Josh Johnson (Amanda); Megan Johnson Garnett (Todd); two great cousins, Esther Johnson and Jack Garnett; Mother and Father in law Timothy and Deborah Deutsch of Eupora MS., Sister in law Jessica (Daniel) Brodeur, Nephew Seth Milligan and Niece Emery Pearl Brodeur of Eupora, MS.; as well as other extended family that he held dear to his heart including his Aunt Jimmie Lee Whitt and his cousin Barry (Beverly) Whitt.

A visitation will be held Friday August 7, 2026, at Wise Reed Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Wise Reed Funeral Home Chapel.

The graveside service will be held at Eupora City Cemetery.
