Jimmy Avent

September 20, 1943 – March11, 2023

Jimmy Avent, also known as "Slim Jim" to his friends, was a kind, caring, loving, helper of mankind, and a godly man who never met a stranger. He walked out his life totally dedicated to the Lord Jesus, his family, the family of God, and friends while shining the light of Christ everywhere he went. Jimmy enjoyed time with family, friends, and others. His truck was his sanctuary of prayer & praise.

He enjoyed traveling and seeing all of God's creation.

Jimmy Avent lived his life to the full, even with life's struggles with his health at times. Jimmy Avent went to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus at the age of 79, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora Mississippi on March 11, 2023. He worked hard to raise his family along with his wife, Darlene. Jimmy was an owner and operator of Jimmy Avent Trucking for 40+ years. He was a faithful member of the Starkville Church of God Family!

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Darlene Avent, their four children: Mickey (Pam) Avent, Billy Wayne (Jill) Avent of Clarkson MS, Jimmy Avent of Black Diamond WA., Sandra (Lee) Miley of Pearl MS,

and eleven grandchildren: Leah (Wes) Strutton, Daniel (Jessica) Avent, Laura(David) Fonseca, Michael (Shelly) Melcher, Sheena (Christopher) Hogan, Teri Lyn (Gabriel) Galvan, Carter Avent, Kayla (Daniel) Hudson, Tamara (Gino) Palmieri, John Robert Avent, and Cassie Avent along with 15 great grandchildren. Sisters: Joyce Wolf, Eva Mae Poe, Grace Ellis, June Coleman,

Brothers: Orvin Avent, Harvey Avent, Joseph Avent and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jimmy Avent was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Robert & Lucille Avent, Bonus Parents: Rev. Wade & Minnie Suse Crotts

Sisters :Elsie Lucille Avent, Ethylee Fason, Catherine Ray, Ruby Myers, Jewel Wilson, Brothers: J G Avent, M D Avent, Glenn Avent, Bonus Daughter: Jenelle K Avent, Bonus Son: Michael (Mike) Melcher Sr., Great Grandson: Caleb Ryan Avent.

Celebration Services for Mr. Avent will be held on March 15, 2023,

at 1PM with visitation from 11am to 1PM at

Wise Reed Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, MS.

Interment at the Clarkson Cemetery in Webster County, Clarkson, MS.
