Obituary

Freddie Jewel Flemons Clanton, 98, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the North Mississippi Center Long Term Care in Eupora, Mississippi. She was born on July 6, 1921 to Robert and Blake Carmichael Flemons. She was married to Tassie Clanton.

Mrs. Clanton, known to most as "GranJewel" was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, Mississippi and in 1997 became a member of the Walthall Baptist Church in Walthall, Mississippi. She served her Lord faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher, leading many young children to Christ. With her winning smile and gentle voice, she was an inspiration to everyone who met her.

After her marriage to Tassie Clanton of Calhoun County, they moved to their home in Bellefontaine, Mississippi. She worked at Wells Lamont Glove Factory in Eupora until retiring with twenty-eight years. She then worked at Wilson's Leather Shop for over five years. She spent her golden years at North Mississippi Medical Center Long Term Care where she greeted, visited, and participated in all activities with a joyful heart.

She is survived by her son, John Robert (Glenda) Clanton of Walthall, Mississippi; two granddaughters, Vicki (Ronnie) Blaylock of Waynesville, North Carolina and Jondi Roberson of Oxford, Mississippi; and three great grandchildren, Clanton Blaylock, Jonathan Brackeen, Anna-Rose Blaylock, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Tassie Clanton; her parents, Robert and Blake Flemons; a sister, Hazel Redwine; and a brother, Cecil Flemons.
