Jeffery Lynn Chism

January 3, 1958 – March 28, 2023

Jeffery Lynn Chism,65, of Stewart, MS, passed away at North MS Medical Center Eupora on March 28, 2023. He was born in Mississippi on January 3, 1958, to Jesse and Carmen Chism.

Having moved back and forth from Florida to Stewart, Jeffery had settled down in Stewart for the past twelve years. He had been a self-employed electrician before becoming disabled. After retiring, he enjoyed metal detecting and treasure hunting for anything that looked interesting. Indian relics were his favored reward. Another pastime Jeffery particularly enjoyed and was quite good at, was shark fishing. He was so good at it that he holds the world record for catching the largest nurse shark ever caught (over 500 lbs.)

Jeffery is survived by two sons, Jeffery, and Anthony Chism; one daughter, Tammy Weeks (Michael); two sisters, Joyce Jones, and Susan Newton; two brothers, Van Chism, and Lloyd Chism; five grandchildren, JJ and Jesse Chism, Lexie, Phillip, and Blakelyn Weeks; and one great-grandchild, Blake Weeks.

Mr. Chism is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Carmen Chism, and brother, Burt Chism.
