James Tim Jones, age 69 of Helena, Alabama, passed away at Baptist Health Shelby Hospital, Alabaster, AL, on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Tim was born October 31, 1956, to James Marvin Jones and Margaret Ellis Jones in Cleveland, MS. Tim graduated from Bayou Academy, Boyle, MS 1975. He attended Delta State University, Cleveland, MS and studied science and business.

Tim married his high school sweetheart Jane Cox, on July 30, 1976. His passion was in the agricultural and construction industry where he referred to his work as challenging and rewarding. Tim was a successful cotton, soybean and rice farmer where he farmed over 1800 acres as an owner-operator in Boyle, MS. He established one of the first Laser Elevation Survey businesses in the Delta area. Tim was awarded Young Farmer of the year in Bolivar County Mississippi in 1980. He later was employed as a General and Sales Manager by John Deere in several Arkansas, Kentucky and Texas locations. Tim had an inventory tracking with zero tolerance on products. Tim retired from farming and the John Deere tractor industry in 2016.

Tim was preceded by death by his parents James M. Jones in 1995 and Margaret Ellis Jones in 2013. He is survived by his wife Jane Jones of 48 years; brother M. Lamar Jones of Birmingham, AL; sister Cindy Harper Baker (Phil) of Burlington, KY; brother Michael Joe Jones (Cindy Sue) of Memphis, TN; nephew Dylan Harper (Leeanne), Burlington, KY; one great niece Savannah Harper, and two great (2) nephews Colton and Carter Harper of Burlington, KY.
