Harold Judson Schmitz

Mathiston, Mississippi

Harold Judson Schmitz, aged 95, passed away on May 10, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora. He was born on December 9, 1924 to the late Marvin Judson and Laura Lorene McCammon Schmitz and was married to the late Nobie Jean Schmitz.

Harold was a lifetime resident of Mississippi where he lived until serving in World War II as a Medic in the European Theater in Germany. After coming home and farming for a couple of years he reenlisted in the Air Force. He served in the armed forces until his retirement. He then returned to his home in Webster County where he farmed in the Clarkson Community. He and his wife raised a daughter, Rebecca Ann. He was a member of the Clarkson Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, John Prather (Peggy) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Stewart (Donald) of Mathiston, Mississippi; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Schmitz of Eupora, Mississippi; ten grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren also survive her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Judson and Laura Lorene McCammon Schmitz; two daughters, Virginia Ezell and Bedelia Prather, two brothers, Otis Schmitz and Ullin Schmitz; and one sister, Hilda Beth Joblin.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Wise Reed Funeral Home assisted with all arrangements.
