Obituary

Glenda Webb Clanton

February 16, 1941~ September 16, 2024

Glenda Webb Clanton was born February 16, 1941 to Lester and Ona Webb in Webster County, MS. She passed away September 16, 2024, in Oxford, MS.

Glenda Webb Clanton graduated as Valedictorian of the Eupora High Class of 1959 and on June 14, 1959, she married the love of her life, Johnny Clanton.

In 1963 the couple moved to Walthall where they started their 65-year journey while raising two daughters, Vicki and Jondi. Glenda was strong and faithful member of Walthall Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years.

Glenda retired from Sunburst bank after 18 years of service. She always had a smile ready for all customers.

Her love for the Lord was evident in everything she did. Witnessing others was her mission in life.

Glenda was a born leader, loving mother and faithful friend. Glenda never met a stranger and her love for others gave her much joy. As lifelong friend Charlotte Caffey said, "Glenda let her little light shine." No words were truer and what a blessing she was to all.

Glenda was an avid reader, especially the Bible. Her notes in her Bible reflect her hunger to learn more and to share God's word.

Glenda was always on the go either cooking for others, working in the yard or as a caregiver to many.

Her favorite pastime was traveling with Johnny across the country on the back of their Gold Wing. They traveled many miles together enjoying God's country.

Glenda loved her family and dedicated her life to providing a loving Christian home. Glenda will be dearly missed by her family and friends but left us many memories to cherish.

Glenda is proceeded in death by her parents Lester C. Webb and Ona Woods Webb.

Glenda is survived by her husband of 65 years Johnny Clanton; two daughters Vicki Blaylock (Ronnie) and Jondi Roberson; four grandchildren Clanton Blaylock (Ashleigh), Anna-Rose Blaylock, Jonathon Brackeen (Lauren) and Calton Roberson; one great-grandchild Charlie Brackeen; and a host of cousins.

The family wants to give special thanks to Dr. Cristi Vowell, Amber Cates, Peggy Clanton, staff of NMMC Eupora staff, Magnolia Oxford Common and Arden Hospice.

A visitation will be held September 19, 2024, from 12 until 2. The service will be at 2pm. Visitation and service will be held at Walthall Baptist Church with burial at Walthall Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to Walthall Baptist Church.
