Frances Ann Cox McPhail

December 13, 1928 – November 9, 2018

Frances Ann Cox McPhail of Slate Springs died November 9, 2018 at Diversicare Nursing Home in Eupora, Mississippi at the age of 89.

Born on December 13, 1928 she was the youngest child of Thomas Edward and Elizabeth Danehower Cox of Haynes, Arkansas. Her father, a farmer was killed in a train accident when she was six months old. The family then moved to Forrest City, Arkansas where they continued farming. She spent her high school years in Nevada, Missouri where she lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Bill and Maxine Allen.

In 1948 she married John Gary McPhail of Slate Springs. Besides being a housewife, she was also a beautician. She has been a member of Bethany Baptist Church for approximately 65 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her siblings and their spouses: Thomas (Lavern) Cox, Sam (Margaret) Cox, and Onice (Warrren Faupel) of Forrest City, Arkansas; James (Lil) Cox of Modesta, California, Lavern (T. C.) Futrell of Wynne, Arkansas, Maxine (Dr. Bill) Allen of Nevada, Missouri, and Irene (Chester) Truitt of Sturgis, Kentucky.

She is survived by her three children: a son John Wayne (Libby) McPhail of Grenada and two daughters, Pam McPhail of Slate Springs and Patty Hibbard of Long Beach, Mississippi; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

A family grave side service was held at Embry Cemetery in Webster County.

A celebration of life service will be held at Bethany Baptist Church in Slate Springs on Saturday, November 17, 2018 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
