Elzie Ronald "Ron" Raines

Elzie Ronald "Ron" Raines, 80, of Eupora, Mississippi passed away on July 26, 2018 at the VA Home in Kosciusko, MS. Mr. Raines was born on May 1, 1938 to Elzie Madison and Sophia Elizabeth Sumers Raines and was the husband of Patricia Faye Raines.

Mr. Raines was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Starkville, MS; lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, and American Legion; and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He served in the United State Air Force for 26 years with a tour of duty in Viet Nam. He and his wife enjoyed volunteering in the VA and local nursing homes. They enjoyed traveling together after his retirement. He was cherished by his family and loved hearing his grandchildren call him "Papaw Ron". He was a loyal supporter of "his" Mississippi State University bulldogs.

Mr. Raines is survived by his wife, Patricia Faye Fondren Raines of Eupora, MS; three sons, Mark (Shelley) Philley of Erath, LA, Michael (Jerrica) Millis of Starkville, MS; and Keri (Melissa) Millis of Eupora, MS; a daughter, Tish (Phillip) Hardin of Stewart, MS; a sister, Shirley A. Cook of Plano, TX; fifteen grandchildren; six grandchildren; one niece, one nephew, and one great-niece. He is preceded in death by one son, Raymond Madison Raines; one daughter, Elizabeth Marie Raines; one sister, Dorthy Bumpus; and one brother, Mooney Raines.
