Eleanor Jean Hail Murphy

Eleanor Jean Hail Murphy, age 84, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at South Central Regional Hospital in Laurel, MS. She was born on January 24, 1938, in Carson, Washington, to Eugene and Lavonne Hail.

Eleanor will be remembered as a woman who found the humor in everything. As well as being a loving grandmother, aunt, and friend, she was totally devoted to her family. She was a member of the Salem Independent Methodist Church in the Chester Community. Aside from being a homemaker, she worked for a time at the school cafeteria in Ackerman and enjoyed helping in her community.

Eleanor is survived by her grandson, Josh Murphy of Ackerman, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hansel Murphy; son, Richard D. Murphy; father, Eugene Sylvester Hail; her mother, Lavonne Fuller Hail McDonough; brothers Robert Hail and Eugene (Gene) Hail Jr. who was called "Pudge" and raised by Eleanor.

Services for Eleanor Murphy will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 2:00 in the Wise Reed Chapel. Visitation will begin at 12:30-2:00. Burial will be at Salem Independent Methodist Church. Wise Reed Funeral Home is overseeing all arrangements.
