Charles Clayton Clark passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born on February 16, 1947, to Taylor and Ludie Jane Crouch Clark of Webster County. The son of a farmer and factory worker, Charles grew up in Webster County and learned the value of hard work from an early age.
Charles made the most of every opportunity that came his way. At the age of eighteen, he joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany, assisting in postwar recovery. In 1968, he married Alice Jones of Weir, Mississippi. In 1970, they welcomed daughter Tandi Karol. In 1978, another daughter, Alicia, came along. Charles was a devoted husband and father, instilling Christian values and a strong work ethic in his family. He was their provider, protector, and rock.
After his service to our country, Charles began working for Illinois Central Railroad and ICG. There he worked for twenty years, never missing a day. Upon retirement from the railroad, he worked for both the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Webster County Sheriff’s Office. Charles had a healthy respect for work and wanted his children to follow his example.
Charles became a life member of VFW Post 3806 of Eupora. He was a Master Mason at both the Eupora Masonic Lodge 423 and the Mathiston-Double Springs Masonic Lodge 184. Charles was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed trapping and trading used and vintage items. Above all, Charles and his wife Alice created a wonderful life for themselves and their children.
Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice Jones Clark; two daughters, Tandi Karol Weaver of Eupora and Alicia Walls of Starkville; and two grandchildren, Christina Nicole Weaver and Brayden Clark Weaver, of Eupora.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, and his son-in-law David Wayne Weaver.
