Calvin Wayne Rushing, 73, passed away peacefully at his residence in Maben, on November 1, 2023. He was born on August 2, 1950, in Mississippi, the son of Marvin Calvin Rushing and Omarie Estelle Burns.

He married Joann Dalton and they had two children and they worked together raising them. Unfortunately, death took her away in 2020 and his life without his partner began. Wayne was not a man that liked to be alone, though, so he spent much time with his brother Roger as well as friends and family. Wayne worked in maintenance for 20 years at Weavex in Starkville. He loved spending time in his shop, working on cars and dirt track racing.

Calvin is survived by his children, Cary (Courtney) Rushing of Gordo, AL and Deann (Billy) Holland of Maben; three sisters, Linda (Bobby) Williams of Maben, Debbie (Billy) Thompson of Montpelier, and Carol Cooksey of Maben; Seven grandchildren, Carly Holland, Brandon Holland, Christopher Holland, Keri Beth Rushing, Linsey Rushing, Bella Rushing, and Carson Rushing; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Holland and Arlo Holland.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Rushing and Omarie Burns; wife, Joann Dalton Rushing; two brothers, Gary Allen Peeples and Roger Peeples.

Funeral services for Calvin Wayne Rushing will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Officiating the services will be Brother David Keen. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Webster County following the services. Pallbearers are Cary Rushing, Brandon Holland, Christopher Holland, Joey Dalton, Brian Huffman, and Lance Peeples. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
