Billy Lee Westmoreland, age 71, passed away on August 13, 2020 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born on September 5, 1948 to Pershing Westmoreland and birthmother, Elizabeth Queen. He was raised by his mother, Pearlie Westmoreland most of his life.

Billy graduated from high school in 1966. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps following his high school graduation in 1966. He completed two tours in the Vietnam War between 1966 and 1969. His family says he loved the outdoors and spent much time outside. He loved to travel, fish, and hunt.

He is survived by his mother, Pearlie Westmoreland of Eupora, Mississippi; three brothers, James (Kim) Westmoreland of Longview, Texas, Randy (Brenda) Westmoreland of Eupora, Mississippi, and Bubba (Lynn) Westmoreland of Brandon, Mississppi; four sisters, Bettye Jean Potts of Columbus, Mississippi, Deborah (Robert) Bingham of Eupora, Mississippi, Betty Jewel Kozlowski of Murphy, North Carolina, and Erma (Larry) Burell of Jasper, Georgia. A host of nieces and nephews also survive him.

He is preceded in death by his birthparents, Pershing Westmoreland Elizabeth Queen; one brother, Tony Westmoreland; and one sister, Wilma Jean Cantrell.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Wise Reed Funeral home in Eupora, Mississippi. A visitation will be held before the service from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Officiating will be Brother Bubba Westmoreland. Pallbearers are Steven Bingham, James Cameal, Randy Westmoreland, Jr., Earlvin Fair, Tramontie Liggins, and Skylar Westmoreland. A graveside service will follow at Eupora City Cemetery in Eupora, Mississippi.
