Radford Holland “Sonny” Redwine
September 3, 1942 – January 13, 2023
Eupora, Mississippi

Radford Holland "Sonny" Redwine, age 80, of Webster County, Mississippi passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. He was born in Big Creek, Mississippi on September 3, 1942. Sonny loved God, his family, and his fellow man. He enjoyed watching college football, especially his Mississippi State Bulldogs, and he cherished every minute he spent with his Great Grandchildren. Sonny had an infectious laugh and he loved to make people smile. He wouldn’t pass up a chance to spend some time with you at a Waffle House or IHOP to drink some coffee; often ending the visit by adding another coffee mug to his collection.

Sonny was a veteran of the US Army and later served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was mobilized for Hurricane Camille in 1969, often describing the devastation he saw as a war zone, an experience confirming his desire to serve others and lead them to the Lord. Sonny was called to serve in ministry at the age of 15. He was ordained on May 27, 1973, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, Mississippi. He served God for over 39 years pastoring numerous churches across Mississippi in full-time and bi-vocational pastor and youth ministry roles. He also served three years as the Chaplain at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi. Sonny was active in various Southern Baptist Association offices throughout his life of ministry. His desire to provide comfort and support to others also led to his work as a funeral director for Wise Funeral home in Eupora.

Sonny was preceded in death by his grandparents Lewis Manuel Redwine, Bettie Melton Redwine, Robert Holland Flemmons, and Blake Carmichael Flemmons, his mother Ruby Hazel Flemmons Redwine, and his father, Era Radford Redwine, his uncle, Cecil Flemmons (Linnie), cousin, Robert Flemmons, and aunt, Jewel Clanton (Tassie). As an only child, his cousins were his precious siblings growing up. He is survived by his cousins Johnny Clanton (Glenda) Walthall, Mississippi, Kay Howell (Terry), Texas, Freddie Bond (Tony) Eads, Tennessee, Earl Flemmons (Teresa) Big Creek, Mississippi. He is also survived by his children, Sylvia Lynn Redwine Dennis (Paul), of Eupora, Mississippi, Jacob Andrew Redwine (Theresa), of Starkville, Mississippi, his grandsons, Justin Gunter (Lisa) of Tomnolen, Mississippi, Ken Pritchard (Alysha) of Florence, Mississippi, and James Dennis of Eupora. He was a blessing to and is survived by his seven great-grandchildren, Christopher Troth, Mikela Gunter, Jace Gunter, Haiden and Lailah Pritchard, Tatum Gunter, and Dylan Smith.
