Margaret Louise Sutton, age 91, passed away on August 17, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center Extended Care in Eupora, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Winnie Lee Jennings Shepherd and wife of the late Francis Eugene “Gene” Sutton.

Margaret graduated from Cumberland High School and soon married Francis Eugene “Gene” Sutton. Together they reared three sons and five daughters. Having a large family, Margaret spent a lot of her time cooking three meals a day for her family. One of her favorite meals was fried catfish. In later years she spent much of her time reading her Bible, working crossword puzzles, and doing word searches. On Sundays she enjoyed going to church, coming to town, and eating her lunch at White’s Creek Lake while watching the boats on the water and visiting with friends. She baby sat many of her grandchildren. She always told her children, “I love all of you—all kids the same!”

Margaret is survived by two sons, Hansel Eugene “Bud” Sutton and his wife Patricia Ann of Derma, Mississippi and Donnie Doyle Sutton and his wife Brenda Gayle of Houston, Mississippi; four daughters Glenda Fay Williams of Montevista, Mississippi, Sandra Louise Holloway and Terry of West Point, Mississippi, Myra Lois and Jimmy R. Williams of Montevista, Mississippi, and Lora Leigh Smith and Gary Barker of Eupora, Mississippi; eleven grandchildren, Lamar Williams, Nichole Williams, Connie Michelle Sutton, Donnie Ann Jennings, Eric Sutton, Brian Bumgart, Bradley Bumgart, Cody Smith, Dustin Holloway, Charlotte Sutton, and Daniel Sutton; fifteen great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Winnie Lee Jennings Shepherd; her husband, Francis Eugene “Gene” Sutton; one son, Gary Lynn Sutton; one daughter, Charlotte Mae Sutton; one grandchild, Brandon Scott Sutton; three brothers, Earnest Lee Shepherd, Ira William Shepherd, Jr., and Chester Shepherd; and three sisters, Mary Cummings, Nadine Williams Chisholm, and Annie Taylor.

Funeral service for Margaret Louise Sutton will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Montevista Baptist Church in Montevista, Mississippi. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Brother Jack McQuary and Brother Howard Rodgers. Pallbearers are Cody Smith, Brian Bumgart, Bradley Bumgart, Eric Sutton, Lamar Williams, and Dustin Holloway. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Sutton, Tyler Brown, and Tanner Brown. Burial will follow the funeral service at Montevista Baptist Church Cemetery. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
