Obituary for Margaret A Jackson

Margaret Alice Prisock Jackson
July 28, 1933 – January 31, 2021
Starkville, Mississippi

Margaret Alice Prisock Jackson, wife of the late Roy Long Jackson, Sr., died of COVID at the age of 87 at Diversicare of Eupora, Mississippi. Margaret was born on July 28, 1933 to L. D. Prisock and Annie V. Moorehead Prisock Gentry.

Margaret will be remembered by many residents in Starkville, Mississippi from the J. C. Penney Company where she retired in 2001. Margaret and her husband, Roy, were devoted members of Calvary Baptist Church over fifty years, where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Her interests included gardening, cooking for her family, and talking to the Lord daily. In her last few years, she thrived under Jan’s care and was happy and content in her familiar environment. She spent her days watching American Pickers (over and over) with Jan’s Chihuahua’s Winston, Martini, and Petie snuggled in her lap.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha (Joe) Myers and Jan Jackson Fitzgerald of Starkville, Mississippi; three loving grandchildren, Amanda Myers (Josh) Thompson of Collinsville, Mississippi, Sam (Ashley) Myers of Oxford, Mississippi, and Rachel Fitzgerald (Josh) Poppelreiter of Mantee, Mississippi; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Belle Keller.

She is preceded in death by her parents, L. D. Prisock and Annie V. Gentry; husband Roy L. Jackson, Sr.; and son, Roy L. Jackson, Jr.

Graveside services will be held at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery near Sturgis, Mississippi at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 with Brother Tim Hudson officiating the service. Honorary pallbearers are Samuel Myers, Josh Poppelreiter, Josh Thompson, Dale Harris, Robert Oakley, Jimmy Morgan, Brett Keller, Joe Myers, and Taylor Noland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Oktibbeha County Humane Society, P. O. Box 297, Starkville, Mississippi 39760.

Marsha and Jan want to acknowledge the following caregivers for the wonderful care they have shown their mom...the wonderful staff at Diversicare of Eupora; the staff of Legacy of Starkville; the staff, nurses, and doctors at Eupora NMMC; and Dr. Sanford and his staff.

Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi is in charge of all arrangements.
