Dr. Julia Jamison Haney, age 79, passed away on August 6, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late James William and Julia Elizabeth Greer Jamison of New Albany, Mississippi.
Julia graduated from New Albany High School, Wood Junior College, and Mississippi State University. She was a counselor, psychologist, and professor at Wood College and Mississippi State University. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, an honorary education society which recognizes academic excellence. Julia was a dedicated member of the Eupora First United Methodist Church.
Julia is survived by three sons, Jack and Karen Haney of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Jim Haney of Pensacola, Florida, and Jeff and Christa Haney of Mathiston, Mississippi; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mary Edna Jamison Simmons of New Albany, Mississippi; a sister-in-law, Janey Ann Haney Pounders; and a special friend, Jeff Christian.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James William and Julia Elizabeth Greer Jamison, and a sister, Ruth Louise Jamison.
A memorial service for Dr. Julia Carolyn Jamison Haney will be held Monday, August 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Eupora, Mississippi. Officiating the service will be Reverend Wayne Napier and Reverend Nathan Phillips. Julia requested that her ashes be scattered at the Chapel in the Pines at Wood College. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
