Jo Ann Ray Files, age 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Brooklyn Hall Assisted Living on Monday, March 7, 2022. Jo Ann was born June 26, 1936 in Webster County to the late Roy Wister Ray and Vera Gatlin Ray.
Jo Ann worked many years at TWL Store on Main Street in Eupora. She enjoyed her job and made lifelong friends. Many still call her “Miss TWL”. She loved gardening and picking blueberries each spring. She shared her harvest with the community. She cared for her family, always putting their needs before hers
She was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She attended all church services, activities, and sent out greeting cards from the church as long as she was able. She
wrote the Mt. Zion news for the Webster Progress Newspaper for many years.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her daughter, Patsy Files Watson (Larry); her granddaughter, Jeannie Watson Davis (Josh), her great granddaughters, Isabella Davis, Lillian Davis; and her sister, Barbara Ray Cooper (Kenneth); and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bobby Lee Files; her parents, Roy and Vera Ray; her sister, Sue O’Neal; and a brother, Charles Ray.
