J. E. Hardin, aged 81, passed away on June 3, 2021 at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, Mississippi. He was the son of the late Willie Lee and Cleo Knight Hardin and husband of the late Ruby Jean Hardin.
Mr. Hardin was a lifetime resident of Choctaw County, Mississippi. He was retired from Choctaw County surveying and school maintenance. He was a member of Crape Creek Baptist Church and was baptized in Crape Creek.
He is survived by one son, Patrick Hardin (Traci) of Maben, Mississippi; one daughter, Jennifer Smith (Joel) of Columbus, Mississippi; one brother Charlie Hardin, Sr. (Wanda) of Stewart, Mississippi; and five sisters, Ruby Goss of Cleveland, Mississippi, Ruth Turner of Holcomb, Mississippi, Pearl Patridge of Stewart, Mississippi, Edna Johnston (Don) of Union, Mississippi, and Faye Burchfield of Stewart; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hardin is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee and Cleo Knight Hardin; wife, Ruby Jean Hardin; one brother, James Ladell Hardin; and three sisters, Lorene Goss, Ila Mae Burton, and Alice Turner.
A graveside service will be Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Crape Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. Brother Brad Latham will officiate the service. Pallbearers are Charlie Hardin, Jr., Jason Hardin, Joel Smith, Tucker Hogue, Brody Hogue, and Doug Henning. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
