James Tennyson, age 75, passed away on February 22, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was born on September 15, 1947, to Calvin Alonzo and Emma Smith Tennyson.

James was a lifetime resident of Mississippi. He spent many days reading his bible, doing yard work, camping, and fishing. Among the many things he loved were animals and McDonald’s sweet tea. His love for his children and stepchildren expanded when he and his wife adopted through the Wednesday’s Child program that helps recruit foster and adoptive parents in the state. He was a faithful member Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Choctaw County.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Tennyson of Eupora, Mississippi; five sons, Jamie Tennyson of Washington, D.C.; Jason Edwards of West Point, Mississippi; Wesley Tennyson of Mize, Mississippi; Derrick Tennyson of Mize, Mississippi; and Andrew Tennyson of Eupora, Mississippi; five daughters, Danielle Tennyson of Caledonia, Mississippi; April Stringer of Raymond, Mississippi; Michelle Fulgham of Pheba, Mississippi; Tina Elkins of West Point, Mississippi; Shea Rosemond of Kosciusko, Mississippi; fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Alonzo and Emma Smith Tennyson; and one son, J.T. Tennyson.

Funeral Services for James Tennyson will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Officiating is Brother Gene Williams. Pallbearers are Shane House, Derrick Tennyson, Wesley Tennyson, Andrew Fulgham, Andrew Tennyson, and Joey Sellars. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
