Ilene Taylor Fleming, age 87, passed away on December 5, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was born on May 5, 1935, to Thomas W. and Beulah Williams Littlejohn.
Ilene was a lifetime resident of Mississippi. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she played the piano for 55 years. She spent many days at the nursing home playing the piano for the residents there. Some of her favorite things to do were gardening, tending to her flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren and her very best friend, Catherine Hill, whom she shared many memories with. In her earlier years, she spent a lot of time cooking for her family and all of those that she loved dearly.
She is survived by one son, William W. “Bill” Taylor (Sandra) of Eupora, Mississippi; one daughter, Sharon Taylor Vaughan (Don) of Maben, Mississippi; one brother, Avalon Littlejohn of the Sapa Community; two sisters, Elain Medders of Mathiston, Mississippi and Katie Robertson of Arab, Alabama; five grandchildren, Noelle Vaughan, Paul Vaughan (Sarah), Janet Bass (Zach), Beverly Taylor, and Allyson Ballard (Justin); and eight great-grandchildren and two on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas W. and Beulah Williams Littlejohn; her husband of 50 years, William Taylor; one son, Thomas G. Taylor; five brothers, Arlis Littlejohn, Oscar Cleveland Littlejohn, Thomas Littlejohn, Marvon Littlejohn, and Marrilton Littlejohn; four sisters, Nadine Harris, Dorothy Fredricks, Maxine Shinall, and Eleanor Clark; and one grandchild, Valarie Taylor.
Funeral Services for Ilene Taylor Fleming will be held at Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Officiating the services will be Brother Larry Halford. Pallbearers are Tim Tindall, Scott Dixon, Shane Kelley, Jacob Halford, Ronald Clark, and Brad Johnson. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Eupora, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mt. Zion Church and/or Cemetery Fund (547 Hobby Road, Eupora, Mississippi 39744) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.) Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
