Everett Bruce Mitchell, Jr., age 75, passed away on December 19, 2022, at Choctaw County Medical Center in Ackerman, Mississippi. He was born on January 24, 1947, to Everett B. and Nell Webb Mitchell, Sr.
Bruce was a veteran and served in the United States Army as a specialist for six years. During those six years, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Sharpshooters Badge. His sense of responsibility carried over into his personal life when his wife became ill. He valiantly took over the role of caretaker to his wife, her children, as well as his mother whom he cared for until her passing. Everett was a truck driver for most of his life and was called Popeye on the CB. He worked for many people hauling anything and everything. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. In his later years, most of his time was spent loving on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Linda A. Mitchell of Eupora, Mississippi; one son, Rusty Mitchell (Patricia) of Michigan; four daughters, Stacy Mitchell of Missouri, Karen Forbes (Stevie) of Tomnolen, Mississippi, Crystal Walksi (Ben) of Eupora, Mississippi, Tori Eaves (Michael) of Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett B., and Nell Webb Mitchell Sr., and one son, Jamie Cummings.
Funeral Services for Everett Bruce Mitchell, Jr. will be held at Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi.
