LaGrange Community
Mathiston, Mississippi

Elois Baggett Cook, age 77, passed away at her home in the LaGrange Community of Choctaw County on April 17, 2022. She was the wife of the late Joseph Edmond Cook and daughter of the late Aubrey Boyd and Macie Brown Baggett.

Elois was a homemaker most of her life. After moving from Georgia to Mississippi at an early age, she met and married Joseph Edmond Cook. They eventually settled on family farmland that the Cook family had owned for at least two generations. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and reading in her spare time. Her family said that she was a great cook and fixed enough food for an army. Being orphaned at an early age, she treasured tracing the Cook and Baggett family histories. She often said, “People should know where they came from and never forget their roots.”

She is survived by her two sons, Joseph Aubrey (Tracey) Cook of Choctaw County, Mississippi, and David Edmond (Suzanne) Cook of Tupelo, Mississippi; one daughter, Lisa Diane Cook Morelan; seven grandchildren, Anastasia Marie Cook Mullens, Jacob Cook, Tyler Cook, Brian Morelan, Joseph Cook, Macie Cook, and Carrie-Lee Cook; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Roy.

Eloise is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edmond Cook; her parents, Aubrey Boyd and Macie Brown Baggett; and twelve brothers and sisters.
