Obituary for David Dewberry

David Dewberry
September 10, 1953– March 15, 2021
Eupora, Mississippi

David Dewberry, aged 67, passed away at his home in Eupora, Mississippi on March 15, 2021. He was the son of the late Lon and Mildred Cummings Dewberry.

David graduated from Maben High School and attended Holmes Junior College in Goodman, Mississippi where he excelled in football and track. He later studied forestry at Mississippi State University. Although he thoroughly enjoyed his work in his timber business, his family laughingly said that he loved the thrill of making a deal. He was a very giving and generous person. He participated in numerous salt-water fishing tournaments in support of the American Breast Cancer Society and competitively fished in numerous Crappiethons. David also competed in the World Series Poker Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada and placed nationally. He was also a big Catch-A-Dream supporter. In all of his outdoor activities, he could stretch a yarn a mile long backed up with the truth. David lived the biggest life surrounded by so many friends. “In the end it’s not the years in life, it’s the Life in years.” -Abraham Lincoln.

David is survived by his daughter, Aimee (Jason) Burney of Eupora, Mississippi; two brothers, Carl (Cynthia) Dewberry of Selmer, Tennessee and Gary (Debra) Dewberry of Maben, Mississippi; and two grandsons, David Mason Bock and Avery Womack.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Lon and Mildred Cummings Dewberry.

Services for David Dewberry will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Double Springs Cemetery in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. Brother Tommy Temple will officiate the services. In lieu of flowers and food, the family asks donations be made to The Catch-A-Dream Foundation at 2485 Ennis Road, Starkville, Mississippi 39759. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
