Charles Michael “Dinky” Bowen

Eupora, Mississippi

Charles Michael “Dinky” Bowen, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Diversicare in Eupora, Mississippi. He was the son of the late Roy Cecil and Grace Sealy Bowen.
Charles was known to most as “Dinky”. He graduated from Eupora High School and attended the University of Mississippi where he played football as the defensive end. Throughout his life he enjoyed all Ole Miss Sporting events. He was the manager of Wells Lamont, Alloyd, and Hawkeye Manufacturing Companies managing the transition for each of these three companies. With his love of sports, he served as the Eupora Park Director until his retirement. He also served as the president of the Sapa Cemetery. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and attending their tennis matches and baseball games. His love of the outdoors was shared with them by taking them fishing and hunting. He especially loved fishing at every opportunity.
Charles is survived by two sons: Charles Anthony “Toby” Bowen (Natalie) and Brian Michael Bowen, both of Oxford, Mississippi; a daughter: Brooklyn Bowen Matherne (Nick) of Flowood, Mississippi; his step-children: Ryan Scott Sesser, Kathryn Clare Sesser-Dorne (Hunter), and Brent Sesser; one brother: Roy Glenn “Buddy” Bowen of Eupora, Mississippi; two sisters: Mary Ann Bowen Smith of Eupora, Mississippi and Patsy Bowen Sexton (Chuck) of Wiggins, Mississippi; and ten grandchildren: Brett Bowen, Calie Branson (Joey), Claire Matherne, Ally Bowen, Mason Coats, Cooper Bowen, Daley Sesser, Rain Sesser, Archer Dorne, and Maisy Sesser.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents: Roy Cecil and Grace Sealy Bowen; his wife, Marilyn Dossett Bowen; four brothers: Cecil Bowen, Robert Bowen, John Bowen, and Billy Joe Bowen; and one stepson, Brandon Sesser.
The Memorial Service for Charles Michael “Dinky” Bowen will be held at Wise Reed Funeral Home on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Ricky Watson and Brother Luke Pogue officiating the services. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 until 2 p.m. A private family burial will follow at Sapa Cemetery in Eupora Mississippi.
