Obituary for Bobby Gene Knight
Bobby Gene Knight, age 78, passed away at his home in Stewart surrounded by his family on February 21, 2023. He was born May 14, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Charlie Ledell and Willie Frances Knight.
At the age of 2, he moved with his parents to Mississippi. He was a factory worker for 51 years at Wells Lamont Glove Factory and FlexSteel. Bobby was a member of Tomnolen Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching Mississippi State Bulldog football and basketball, playing the guitar and keyboard, and fishing. He cherished every minute spent with his wife and family. His family will always remember him as a loving husband, father and grandfather that had a contagious smile. He cherished every minute spent with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debbie Knight; one sister, Jackie Stewart (Frank) two sons, Shane Knight (Angela) of Starkville, Scott Dean (Mary) of Stewart, MS; four daughters, Lisa Shaman (Chris), Teka Funderburk (Rick), Becky Griffith (Brian), and Kristi Dean; seventeen grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and one special nephew Charlie Ray Stewart.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Ledell and Willie Frances Knight.
Services will be held on February 25, 2022 at 1 pm at Tomnolen Baptist Church with Interment and Burial at Reed’s Chapel Cemetery, Stewart, MS. Visitation is at Wise-Reed Funeral Home on February 24, 2022 from 5 pm until 7 pm. Officiating the service is Bro. Chance Parish.
