Becky Murphy Evans, aged 65, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, Mississippi on August 19, 2021. She was the wife of Tal Evans of Bellefontaine, Mississippi.
Becky had a winning personality that made friends with everyone and brightened their day. If she knew you, she always called your name and asked how you were. Her words of encouragement and laughter will be remembered by her many friends through the years. She was a graduate of Ackerman High School and a faithful member of LaGrange Methodist Church. She was the office manager for Dr. James Booth’s Clinic for ten years. She then became assistant manager at Murphy Drug Company (Walgreens) until her retirement. She and Tal were happily together for fifteen years. Her grandkids called her Nana and she was the rock of the family.
She is survived by her husband, Tal Evans; two daughters, Jen Watson (Doug) Wilson of McGehee, Arkansas and Courtney (Bobby) Evans Henson of Bellefontaine, Mississippi; her mother, Irene Weeks Murphy, and a brother, Wesley Murphy, both of the LaGrange Community. She had three grandchildren, Gracie, Brantley, and Wyatt. She had three ladies who were like sisters to her, Sarah Davis, Shirley McCain, and Connie Orr. She also leaves behind two grand dogs that she loved, Pappi and Choctaw.
She is preceded in death by her father, William Walter Murphy.
Funeral services for Becky Murphy Evans will be Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Wise Reed Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Wise Reed Funeral Home. Presiding over the services will be Reverend Nathan Phillips and Brother Billy Michael Trull. Burial will be at LaGrange Cemetery in Choctaw County. Wise Reed Funeral Home is in charge of all services.
